Weaving 101

Weave an Old Mill Alpaca Scarf

In this workshop, participants will get the opportunity to immerse themselves in the local fibre movement with a weaver who specializes in woven cloth using locally sourced and milled fibre. We will compare the properties, advantages and disadvantages of using locally produced fibre to nonlocal commercially available fibre. Participants will have hands-on opportunities to see, feel and use a variety of undyed, mill-spun alpaca from Old Mill Alpaca.
Participants will beam a warp on a loom, thread, sley and weave a scarf and fringe it. Directions for final wet finishing will be provided in the workshop.
